over and over.
life seems to be this continual cycle, two steps forward, three steps back. this continual cycle of questioning, asking "why?" and wondering what the plan could be. life is unpredictable.
over and over again we question why God does what He does when He does it. over and over again we doubt God's goodness when we are in the middle of a tough time. the best worldly thing could be given to us and we would praise and thank God for his goodness. in that same 5 minutes of celebration, the worst thing could happen and we would immediately ask why God would let such a bad thing happen to us. ever think that maybe that thing that we think is the worst, could be the best?
think of good friday. it's GOOD friday, not BAD friday, but what happened on that so-called GOOD friday? the highest amount of pain happened on that day, Jesus was brutally beaten and hung on a cross, for you, and for me. a SINLESS man was hung on a cross to die for people who live every single day of their lives sinning. now i don't know about you, but if i was Jesus, i wouldn't exactly call that a 'good' day. that terrible day, full of betrayal, pain, suffering, and anguish was a day we now call GOOD because three days Jesus came back, explaining the purpose for his pain.
we go through our lives, and experience pain, and suffering, we cry tears of sorrow, but also tears of joy. we experience the tough parts of life, but we also get a lot of good things out of life as well. God allows pain in our life, for a purpose. He doesn't waste our pain.
pain is going to happen, over and over again. it's the way a sinful world works, hold on to hope though, that your pain, is going to turn into something good. life is unpredictable, good things come just as fast and hard things, and if we only see the hard things in life as punishment, we limit what God can do with those hard times through us.
when we stop limiting what we let God do through us, we start seeing how good the life He has planned for us is. i'm not saying that the pain is easy to handle and that in the snap of your fingers you can be okay with it and understand that it will be for good. that's hard and isn't realistic, but fighting the pain, and accepting it, are totally different things.
ACCEPT that life sucks, and go to God on your knees, cry out to Him, He knows what pain feels like. find friends who will pray over you, and with you when life sucks. fighting the pain is giving it power. it is saying that you know God is good and you know He has a plan, but you don't like it and you are going to be mad about it. accepting it takes time, and everyone fights it at first, but get off your high horse, and go humble yourself before God. Even Jesus asked for another way, instead of having to die that brutal death for us (Luke 22:42), He also in that same breathe said: "BUT thy will be done". no one wants to go through pain and suffering, everyone wants the joys of life, but if there was never sorrow, would we truly know what joy felt like?
next time you're thinking over and over to yourself, why something happened, and how much it sucks and how bad the timing is, think about GOOD friday. think about how time after time again, God shows you how much He loves you and how many blessings He has bestowed upon your life. your pain is valid, and worth feeling, but don't limit God to how much He can bring you through your pain. i hear He is a God of miracles ;)
