The Hills and Valleys

so i don't know about you, but the hills are much easier, and more fun than the valleys are. but guys, the valleys are so so worth going through.

the valleys, as hard as may be, will be for good. it will show God's great power that can't be done in simple situations. i can't say I've seen what the world deems a huge miracle, but i did see a man get open heart surgery to replace a valve, and a month and a half later run a 5k by my side. if that isn't a good enough miracle for you, then i don't know what is. at the time, i would not have said that open heart surgery was good for anything other than to keep that man alive. it put stress on him, and his wife, and kids and family, but look at the good that came from that. that man has completed 3 FULL IRONMAN races (2.4mile swim, 112mile bike, AND 26.2mile run--consecutively), more half ironman races than i can count and many half and full marathons throughout that. God is so powerful to allow that man to do all of those things after creating him with a defected heart.

God doesn't stop because of the circumstances surround a situation. He makes a way for us to get through them. His plan, is better than our backup plan. there is not a single doubt in my mind that what God does, He does for good. He is greater than anything. His love is good.

i wonder what would happen if we believed that God was good. that he would never leave us. that we were worth that kind of love. that kind of goodness.

God says we are worth all of the goodness and love that is coming our way. greater things are going to come in the valleys. we won't be left in the dark. God will redeem you and restore you. He has a purpose for the valleys, just as he does the mountains.

now, the mountains. just think, how many amazing mountains have you climbed? how many times have you sat back while in the valleys and looked at all of the mountains you got to climb? ask yourself how many times you ran to God then. when things are good, is God the first one you thank and praise? do you ask God 'why?' just like you did when things were hard in the valleys? thankfulness prepares the way for the Lord.

i've been in quite the valley lately, stress and life has seemed to be overwhelming and way to much to handle. when i take a minute to breath though, i realize it should be more than i can handle if i am trying to handle it alone. God promises to never give us more than we can handle, because He can handle everything so with Him, there is nothing we can't do.

hard to remember, but God is good even when times are not.

be still.

God's got this.

God's got you.

do not fear.
