wise vs. favourable

ever have a choice to make, and you know what the right choice is, but inside you still want to pick the other one?

this is something that i can guarantee will occur once in your life, if not more than once. it is something that i have to do on a regular basis.

do you ever think that God is the same way. He doesn't want to allow pain, and hurt and brokenness to come upon us, but He knows how we will grow from it, and how the rest of our life could be impacted because of that hard situation. He loves us so much though, that it must be hard for Him to see us struggling.

that also gives me so much hope, knowing that. that God only allows suffering when it is going to help us, and improve our way of life. He can change any situation, yet He chooses to leave us in hard ones because He knows the growth and faith and love that will come from it.

don't get me wrong, it is incredibly hard to make the wise choice over the favourable one. little, or big, it is hard. whether it is choosing an apple over a chocolate bar, or choosing to stay home instead of going to Europe with your family.  both are hard, and we will always want the favourable one over the wise.

i find, that even when i have to make the wise choice, and it hurts when i have to make it, it always seems to work out for the best and i see that the other option would have ended in disaster. in the moment, making that decision isn't any easier, but i don't think there would be very much that would make it easier.

i've learned that until we realize, that we are in a hard place, making that hard choice, because God lead us there, because He loves us, and wants the best for us, we won't ever see that the outcome of the wise is always better than the favourable. we are in that place, for a reason, and it pains God to see His sons and daughters hurting, but it also brings joy, knowing that once we're through it, we are either going to have gained faith and trust in Him, or we are going to lose it all. that, is your choice.

a wise option and a favourable option are going to come, and you're going to have to choose, even if you know it may be hard and painful. no one wants to chose the path of resistance, but if we don't how to we grow stronger? if we only ever lift a 3lb weight how can we expect to grow any muscle?

i am not saying, that i always pick the wise choice, it is hard, and sometimes the favourable one is easier with circumstances, but i know, from experience that the wise one, always turns out better and is always always always so worth it.

do you think, that Jesus wanted to be beaten, and nailed to a cross? He did nothing deserving of that, but He made the wise choice to die on that cross and take away every single sin of ours. i don't know about you, but that would not have been the preferable, easy or wanted choice. we read in Luke 22:42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." He asked, if there was any other way to take our sins away, yet when there wasn't, He still did as God had planned.  as Christians, we strive to be like Christ, right? well, sometimes that means saying "not my will, but yours be done" and doing the wise choice, because as hard as it is, God wouldn't have made it a choice if He didn't think that you would grow from it.

hard, i know. know this though... this world, this pain, this life and all of the hurt that comes along with it, won't last forever. this place, isn't our home, and thank the Lord that He is preparing a place for us, that will be perfect, and free of harm, and struggles and pain. all of this, is temporary, it won't last forever. God, lasts forever. His love, last forever. His promises, last forever. don't lose hope, pick the wise choice, God brought you to it and He is going to bring you through it.
